More and more people are turning to plant medicines in search of healing from trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction, and other psychological challenges, often without a clear understanding of how these powerful medicines interact with the human psyche. These experiences can be profoundly healing, but they can also become confusing, destabilizing, or even harmful when psychological conditions are misunderstood.
Plant medicines can profoundly affect our nervous systems, emotions, consciousness, and patterns of behavior. Yet the modern clinical understanding of mental health and the spiritual perspectives of traditional plant medicine lineages do not always speak the same language. Bridging these worlds is essential if we want to create safer, more compassionate, and more effective approaches to healing.
Join Kat Courtney for an immersive 8 week exploration of psychology, plant medicines, mental health, and harm reduction through both clinical and shamanic perspectives. Together, we will explore how major entheogens interact with different psychological conditions, how to recognize potential risks, and how thoughtful preparation, facilitation, and integration can support safer and more meaningful experiences.
This course is designed for both the curious and the experienced. Whether you are a facilitator, integration coach, therapist, healthcare professional, experienced participant, or simply fascinated by the relationship between psychology and plant consciousness, you will receive a nuanced framework that honors both modern psychological understanding and indigenous wisdom.
Over eight weeks, we will explore trauma and PTSD, depression and anxiety, obsessive compulsive and impulse control disorders, somatic and eating disorders, bipolar and other mood disorders, personality disorders, addiction, and substance abuse. Kat will guide participants through a compassionate exploration of how different medicines may interact with these conditions, when they may or may not be appropriate, and how individualized care and harm reduction can dramatically influence outcomes.
If you feel called to better understand the complex relationship between plant medicines and the human psyche, we invite you to join us. This course offers a supportive space for learning, reflection, and deeper understanding as we explore how clinical knowledge and shamanic wisdom can come together in service of safer and more compassionate healing.
